Art in the time of Covid

During the pandemic I didn’t clean out my closets like my friends, although I wish the closet fairy would come and take care of that. Like everyone, I had lots of time alone, so I painted, and painted, and painted. Some results were good, some – not so much!

Early in the pandemic, we were nearly certain that my son had covid, alone in his apartment in Brooklyn. There were no tests to be had back in March, 2020. Luckily he survived, and sent me a picture of his first venture onto the roof of his building 6 weeks later, wearing a homemade mask I sent him. Bodies were still being stored in refrigerator trucks in NY. Painting him in that mask was a way to manage my fear and relief (Recovered, 9”x 12”).
